Aujourd’hui, c’est la journée mondiale de la mobilisation pour le droit à un avortement légal et sûr. Il y aurait en Belgique environ 20000 avortements par an. En juillet dernier, Dominique Roynet, médecin d’un planning familial s’était inquiétée car elle craignait une pénurie de médecins généralistes pratiquant l’avortement. Selon elle, seule l’ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles) s’implique dans la formation des jeunes médecins pratiquant l’avortement, les autres universités la délaissant. Cela ferait que les femmes auraient davantage recours à l’avortement médicamenteux ce qui n’est pour elle pas une solution de rechange car elle est irrespectueuse de la fragilité psychologique des femmes. La relève de la génération militante des années 70/80 n’aurait pas été assurée. Pourquoi ? Bonne question peut-être que la nouvelle génération n’y voit pas un acte anodin du tout. En tout cas le ministre des Affaires sociales et de la Santé, Laurette Onkelinx avait tenu à rassurer. Le droit à l’avortement n’est pas menacé. A sa connaissance, seules deux institutions hospitalières cherchaient des remplacements de médecins pratiquant l’avortement après des départs à la retraite. Pas sûr que les embryons soient rassurés !
Quand on se penche un peu sur Dominique Roynet, on la retrouve en première ligne dans le combat pour le droit à l’avortement. Elle a fait ses études sous l’égide du médecin Willy Peers, chef de file de la lutte pour la légalisation de l’avortement dès la fin des années 50. En 1979, elle rejoint la petite équipe du planning familial des Marolles à Bruxelles. Pendant treize ans, elle y pratiquera l’avortement ce qui lui vaudra quatre inculpations. En 1992, elle met sur pied un planning familial à Jemelle. A l’ULB, elle enseigne la planification familiale, la contraception, l’interruption de grossesse etc… Elle a cette phrase : « Les lobbies anti avortement sont puissants. Le combat est loin d’être terminé. Il faut rester vigilant. Toujours. »
