Au Royaume-Uni, où le port du voile intégral masquant le visage est autorisé, la chaîne BBC Three (disponible uniquement en ligne) a suscité une grande vague de protestation après avoir diffusé le 1er août une vidéo intitulée Les choses à ne pas dire à quelqu’un portant une burqa.
Ne vous y trompez pas, il ne s’agit pas d’une vidéo parodique comme l’humour britannique peut en produire. Malgré la musique jazzy en fond sonore, cette vidéo de la télévision britannique prend la défense du niqab. Plusieurs femmes musulmanes britanniques en niqab y prennent la parole pour critiquer avec ironie les personnes qui s’inquiètent de voir cet accoutrement dans les rues du Royaume-Uni.
Selon cette vidéo, les femmes portant le niqab se trouvent souvent face à des gens qui leur demandent «Etes vous forcées à porter cela ?», ce qui agace visiblement beaucoup ces musulmanes. «J’aime la curiosité, c’est bien, mais l’ignorance ça m’énerve vraiment», réplique l’une d’elles. Une autre femme portant niqab affirme par ailleurs être féministe : «Je suis une reine chez moi, toutes les femmes devraient être traitées de cette façon […] Le féminisme c’est faire ses propres choix, il s’agit de l’un d’entre eux», déclare-t-elle.
Cette vidéo visible sur YouTube provoque un tollé parmi les internautes britanniques qui y voient l’éloge de l’islamisme par les pouvoirs publics britanniques.
