Nous vous parlions déjà il y plusieurs mois de l’emploi supposé par le gouvernement ukrainien de mercenaires et de sociétés militaires privées étrangères (ici et ici). Jusqu’à présent, les nouveaux dirigeants installés à Kiev avaient toujours nié tout recours à des forces étrangères dans la lutte contre les troubles dans l’est du pays et les informations à ce sujet n’émanaient que de sources indépendantistes ou russes. Mais des combattants étrangers, à l’instar du Suédois Michael Skilt du bataillon Azov1, ayant été faits prisonniers par les milices d’autodéfense du Donbass, ça commence à être difficile de cacher la présence de mercenaires aux côtés de l’armée ukrainienne.
Hier, le porte-parole de « l’opération antiterroriste » mise en œuvre par les autorités ukrainiennes, Alexeï Dmitrachkovski, a donc fini par dévoiler le pot aux roses en ces termes : « Des étrangers participent à l’opération. Cela a été annoncé à plusieurs reprises. ».
Selon l’agence de presse Interfax, 43 Polonais employés par la société militaire privée ASBS Othago, dont huit pilotes, participeraient aux opérations avec l’armée ukrainienne. En plus de cela, 200 contractors opéreraient en Ukraine pour le compte des firmes américaines Halo Trust, Greystone et CubicApple. Enfin, une quinzaine d’Italiens évolueraient également comme consultants militaires sur le théâtre d’opérations.
