L’exposition présente des archives de l’écrivain, venant de Russie : des manuscrits autographes du temps de la «charachka», des dactylogrammes, les premières rédactions de ses romans, mais aussi un album de photos prises par l’Auteur, des exemples de samizdat, le chapelet qui lui permit de retenir mentalement des milliers de vers… Et des objets conservés en France: des lettres, des photos, le fameux tube dans lequel L’Archipel du Goulag est resté enterré en Estonie pendant des années, l’histoire des Invisibles, le meuble et les caractères cyrilliques de l’imprimerie Berezniak, qui servirent à composer L’Archipel…
