Joe Biden est le candidat à la candidature démocrate pour la présidence des États-Unis. Il est présentement le mieux placé pour obtenir l’investiture de son parti. Il était vice-président des États-Unis sous la législature d’Obama et a néanmoins été humilié en public le dimanche 25 octobre.
Il est « catholique » et s’est vu refuser la sainte communion à la messe par le Père Morey, curé de la paroisse Saint Antoine de la ville de Florence en Caroline du Sud. Biden en a pleuré de dépit.
Le prêtre s’est appuyé sur le canon 915 qui plaçait de fait l’ex-vice-président hors de la communion catholique et en faisait un pêcheur public. La raison est qu’il soutient publiquement l’avortement jusqu’à la naissance alors que dans sa conscience il y est opposé. Le très libéral cardinal Dolan archevêque de New-York a déclaré : « Moi je ne l’aurais pas fait » (refuser la communion).
Il est bon de savoir qu’un prêtre, le Père Pavone – personnage américain très en vue pour ses positions traditionnelles- avait dit auparavant à Biden qu’il n’était pas possible d’être en faveur de l’avortement tout en étant catholique.
À son passif, Biden, sous Obama, avait essayé d’obliger les Petites Sœurs des Pauvres tenant des cliniques, à faire des avortements et à prescrire la contraception ; de plus il avait célébré le premier mariage homosexuel de l’Amérique.
Tout cela le mettait d’emblée hors de l’Église.
Pour sa défense Biden déclara que le pape lui-même lui avait déjà donné la communion. Or normalement une personne en état de péché mortel ne peut pas se présenter au banc de communion. Apparemment le pape appliquait déjà le relativisme de Amoris Laetitia ; cette exhortation laissant à chacun l’appréciation du bien ou du mal.
Il serait bon que le Père Morey vienne faire un petit tour en France…
Simple rappel. Chirac était le Premier ministre de Giscard entre 1974 et 1976. En 1975, c’était la loi Veil. Cela n’a pas empêché notre ancien président d’avoir récemment des funérailles en grandes pompes à l’Église Saint Sulpice ; cet évènement ne pouvant se faire à Notre Dame de Paris qui avait été incendiée.
