Ce jeudi 30 janvier s’ouvrira devant le tribunal correctionnel de Bruxelles l’un des plus grands procès de terrorisme islamiste qui ait jamais eu lieu en Europe. Dix-neuf personnes seront sur le banc des prévenus, tous poursuivis pour terrorisme, dans le cadre de ce qu’il est convenu d’appeler la filière somalienne. Ces personnes auraient participé, directement ou indirectement, au combat mené par les combattants d’Al-Shabaab, milice islamiste somalienne qui, en 2012, a fait allégeance à Al-Qaida.
De ces dix-neuf prévenus, deux prévenus seront absents pour être actuellement détenus au Kenya. Après la prise d’otage d’un complexe commercial au Kenya par ces milices d’Al-Shabaab, le Kenya ne semble pas disposé à les expatrier vers la Belgique avant qu’ils n’aient purgé leurs peines au Kenya.
Les débats devraient durer plusieurs jours et risquent d’être animés, entre le procureur fédéral belge, chargé des dossiers terroristes, et certains avocats de la défense, spécialisés en matière de terrorisme, tels Mes Henri Laquay et Sébastien Courtoy.
Le Palais de justice de Bruxelles et ses alentours seront sous très haute surveillance.
