Mgr Atallah Hanna, archevêque de l’Eglise orthodoxe grecque à Jérusalem, a clarifié les choses à propos des « chrétiens évangélistes » des sectes protestantes.
« Les personnes susmentionnées n’appartiennent pas du tout au christianisme. Elles n’ont aucun lien avec les valeurs du christianisme et les principes évangéliques, qui préfèrent toujours s’identifier aux personnes démunies et malheureuses du monde. Elles sont plus proches du judaïsme et du sionisme et n’ont aucun lien avec le christianisme. »
« Les évangélistes chrétiens sont l’équivalent de chaires au service de l’entreprise sioniste. Ils sont des ennemis des valeurs chrétiennes et, lorsqu’ils se rendent en Palestine, ils ne visitent pas l’église du Saint-Sépulcre ni celle de la Nativité, mais plutôt les colonies situées sur les terres volées de notre peuple, en signe de solidarité avec le peuple de l’occupation. »
