Intervention de Christophe FOLTZENLOGEL, de l’European Centre for Law and Justice, devant le Comité des droits de l’homme de l’ONU pour la défense de Vincent Lambert :
« Monsieur le Président,
Il y a deux jours, Madame Viviane LAMBERT a exposé devant vous la situation terrible de son fils, Vincent LAMBERT, un homme tétraplégique en état de conscience altérée que son médecin a décidé d’euthanasier en raison de son handicap alors que même les experts judiciaires nommés par la justice française ont écrit qu’il n’était pas en situation d’acharnement thérapeutique.
Or, le processus d’euthanasie a été déclenché hier. Vincent LAMBERT est à présent privé d’alimentation et d’hydratation pour provoquer sa mort.
Si rien n’est fait, il va mourir dans les prochains jours.
Ses parents ont pourtant saisi le Comité des droits des personnes handicapées de l’ONU, qui a demandé à la France à trois reprises, et hier encore, de maintenir l’alimentation et l’hydratation de Monsieur LAMBERT, le temps au moins de l’examen de cette requête.
Mais le Gouvernement français et le médecin refusent de respecter cette demande ! Ils s’apprêtent à faire mourir Vincent LAMBERT en violation flagrante de la Convention relative aux droits des personnes handicapées et de son protocole facultatif.
M. le Président, la situation est grave : la France est en train de rétablir l’euthanasie des personnes handicapées ! Et le gouvernement exploite la vie et la mort de Vincent LAMBERT dans ce but idéologique sinistre.
En 1948, c’est contre cette politique inhumaine que la Déclaration universelle des droits de l’homme a rappelé fermement que le droit à la vie et la dignité sont inhérents à la personne humaine, sans distinction de race, de santé ou de handicap !
Je vous en prie, ne permettez pas le rétablissement de l’euthanasie des personnes handicapées !
Rappelez en urgence à la France ses engagements internationaux. C’est tout le système de protection internationale des droits de l’homme qui est ici fragilisé par la France au détriment d’un homme dont la vie est menacée de manière imminente.
Si Vincent Lambert est tué, alors les portes de la mort seront grandes ouvertes pour toutes les personnes vulnérables et incapables d’exprimer leur volonté. »
