Antichristianisme en Israël – Les procureurs israéliens ont annoncé renoncer aux poursuites contre deux militants juifs inculpés de différents crimes, dont l’appartenance à une organisation terroriste et le vandalisme contre une importante église de Jérusalem.
Il y a un peu plus de deux mois, ce même tribunal avait rejeté les aveux du plus jeune des inculpés.
L’agence de sécurité du Shin Bet, qui avait dirigé l’enquête, a réagi par un communiqué, indiquant que les aveux avaient été rejetés « alors qu’il ne faisait aucun doute qu’une partie importante des aveux avaient été obtenus au cours des enquêtes sans recours à des moyens inappropriés. »
« Le Shin Bet respecte la décision [de lundi] du tribunal et continuera à agir conformément à la loi pour garantir la securité du pays et contrecarrer le terrorisme, quelle que soit l’identité de ses auteurs, » ajoute le communiqué.
L’agence y voit notamment une manœuvre pour délégitimer l’unité chargée d’enquêter sur le terrorisme commis par des Juifs.
Yinon Reuveni et Yehuda Asraf étaient soupçonnés d’avoir vandalisé l’église de la Multiplication des pains et des poissons à Tabgha, sur le rivage de la mer de Galilée, à la cour de district de Nazareth le 29 juillet, 2015. Ils avaient été arrêtés en janvier 2016, dans le cadre d’une opération d’envergure du Shin Bet visant au démantèlement d’une « infrastructure terroriste » responsable de l’incendie mortel d’une maison du village palestinien de Duma en juillet 2015.
Lors de son interrogatoire, le plus jeune avait avoué être membre d’une organisation terroriste, avoir vandalisé l’abbaye de la Dormition de Jérusalem et avoir mis le feu à plusieurs véhicules dans la ville d’Aqraba dans le nord de la Cisjordanie.
Des responsables de l’abbaye de la Dormition avaient retrouvé des partis du séminaire brûlés ainsi que des graffitis haineux en hébreu sur les murs, dont « mort aux chrétiens, » « mort aux Arabes, » et « Jésus est un singe. »
L’abbaye, située près du Cénacle, a été la cible de nombreux actes de vandalisme ces dix dernières années. En 2014, quelques heures après une messe célébrée par le Pape François, des pyromanes avaient mis le feu à l’abbaye.
