Etats-Unis – Le 26 mars, Mike Pence, gouverneur de l’État de l’Indiana, a promulgué une loi destinée à protéger la liberté religieuse en permettant notamment de refuser d’accomplir un service ou une prestation qui irait à l’encontre de ses principes religieux. Le lobby LGBT s’est particulièrement senti visé.
«Aujourd’hui, j’ai signé le Religious Freedom Restoration Act, car je soutiens la liberté de religion pour chaque Hoosier quelle que soit sa croyance. La constitution des États-Unis et la Constitution de l’Indiana fournissent toutes deux une forte reconnaissance de la liberté de culte mais aujourd’hui, beaucoup de croyants ont l’impression que leur liberté religieuse va être attaquée par les actions du gouvernement.»
Bien entendu, cette reconnaissance de la liberté de conscience pour les croyants vaut au gouverneur de l’Indiana une gigantesque campagne de dénigrement et des menaces de boycott de son Etat.
