Les demandeurs d’asile ne manquent pas d’exigences. Fréquemment, ils se plaignent de la nourriture qui leur est servie ou du confort de l’abri dans lequel ils sont logés. En Carinthie, des immigrés ont organisé une grève de la faim pour obtenir 2.000 euros d’argent de poche par mois !
Les personnes en charge d’accueillir les « réfugiés » constatent que ces immigrés arrivent généralement avec des idées fausses sur la « Terre Promise » que serait l’Autriche ou l’Allemagne.
Un article paru dans le Dachau Rundschau est particulièrement révélateur. Isabell Sittner, coordinatrice de la politique d’asile pour Bayern, y expliquait :
« Je me rends compte que la plupart d’entre eux arrivent ici avec des idées et des attentes irréalistes. Ils me demandent souvent: «Quand vais-je recevoir ma maison et ma voiture? » Ces idées fausses sont entretenues par les passeurs. »
