Nous vivons dans le monde des écrans, tout au long de nos journées, presque à chaque instant. L’année du Covid n’a fait que renforcer cette tendance. Beaucoup aspirent pourtant à la déconnexion, pour eux et pour leurs enfants, et se demandent comment trouver l’équilibre. Comment utiliser les écrans en hommes libres ? Comment arriver à ce qu’ils nous servent, alors qu’ils nous bouffent ? C’est à ces questions pratiques que ce livre cherche à répondre.
L’auteur, aumônier d’un peu moins de deux cents jeunes, de la sixième à la terminale, est confronté chaque année à des histoires de harcèlement via les réseaux sociaux, de photos intimes partagées sur ces mêmes réseaux sociaux et qui ruinent des réputations. Il voit les addictions entretenues savamment par certains réseaux sociaux comme Snapchat. Il constate que bien des parents vivent également accrochés à leurs écrans et ne communiquent plus en famille. Il témoigne que le clergé n’est pas épargné et qu’il y a bien des prêtres et des évêques qui racontent leur vie sur les réseaux sociaux, jusqu’à publier la photo du plat qu’ils dégustent au restaurant.
L’ouvrage rappelle aussi que les sociétés qui se cachent derrière nos écrans ne sont pas philanthropiques. Si c’est gratuit, c’est vous le produit ! Certes, la plupart des applications sont gratuites. Mais la société qui les propose se paye en étant toujours avec son utilisateur et en commercialisant les données personnelles.
