Le 9 août 1945 la bombe A était larguée sur Nagasaki faisant en quelques secondes 74 000 morts et encore autant suite aux radiations.
Beaucoup de faits historiques trouvent leur explication dans des intentions inavouables. Outre les justifications que donnent certains pour l’emploi de l’arme atomique, le choix de Nagasaki étonne.
« Nagasaki est liée dès son origine à l’arrivée de la foi chrétienne au Japon. Ce lieu fut concédé aux Portugais en 1571 par le daimyo Ōmura Sumitada comme port de commerce, avant de le leur être retiré et confié aux missionnaires de la Compagnie de Jésus en 1580. A la suite d’une révolution politique, les missionnaires sont chassés et le christianisme interdit en 1587. Malgré d’ignobles persécutions, les chrétiens de Nagasaki conservent leur foi et la pratiquent en secret, jusqu’au retour des missionnaires au XIXème siècle. » Source : schola-sainte-cecile.com
