Mohamed El Manti est un ex-conseiller communal (Ecolo) dans le quartier d’Aumale à Bruxelles. Chaque année, il reçoit des dizaines de personnes dans sa maison pour fêter l’Aïd. Il explique qu’il s’est beaucoup battu pour l’instauration de sites d’abattage agréés. « Sans cela, c’était la pagaille car les gens procédaient au sacrifice à domicile et ceux qui n’aimaient pas les immigrés faisaient de la récupération. Le bourgmestre de l’époque, Jacques Simonet, m’avait écouté. Aujourd’hui, la ville est propre, les sites sont contrôlés et les musulmans se sentent respectés ! » Mais ce n’est pas tout car il espère que l’intégration ira encore plus loin. « Je rêve que l’Aïd devienne une fête nationale. Les Belges non-musulmans pourraient venir faire la fête avec nous. Je ne pense pas qu’ils rateraient une occasion de faire la fête ! »
