L’édition russe d’un magazine de promo d’Ikea a retiré l’interview d’un couple d’Anglaises, Clara et Kirsty, deux jeunes femmes ouvertement lesbiennes. L’interview a été remplacé par un autre article. L’entreprise a expliqué vouloir «rester neutre» dans le débat international sur les lois contre la propagande homosexuelle en Russie. Ylva Magnusson, porte-parole de l’entreprise, s’est expliqué: « Nous avons deux principes fondamentaux dans la communication que nous distribuons. Le premier est le design d’intérieur et le second, l’obéissance à la loi. »
Cela laisse un goût amer aux associations LGBT suédoises:« c’est décevant de voir Ikea s’aplatir comme ça, a commenté Ulrika Westerlund, présidente de la Fédération suédoise pour les droits LGBT. Personne ne sait vraiment ce que recouvre cette “propagande gay” aux yeux des autorités russes. Si Ikea avait laissé l’article, cela aurait servi de test. »
Cet exemple démontre une fois de plus que la fermeté des lois russes permet de freiner ce déferlement de propagande homosexuelle qui n’est pas inéluctable.
