Voici un livre étonnant à plus d’un titre. D’abord parce que ce livre s’inscrit dans une démarche multimédia. Un DVD l’accompagne, que l’auteur conseille de visionner avant d’entamer la lecture de son livre. Chaque chapitre du livre est également marqué d’un code QR qui renvoie, via un smartphone ou une tablette numérique, vers une nouvelle vidéo.
Le parcours de l’auteur n’est pas non plus banal. Olivier Roney est un prestidigitateur. Il s’est heurté à la franc-maçonnerie dans le cadre professionnel. Il s’est par ailleurs passionné pour Gustave Flaubert. En 2008, il part en Egypte pour réaliser un travail sur le voyage en Orient de Gustave Flaubert. Malgré les difficultés rencontrées à son retour en France, il finit par publier Gustave Flaubert et le Grand Orient de France qui n’est que le premier volume d’une trilogie.
L’ouvrage est remarquablement documenté et décrit bien l’influence maçonnique sur la vie politique française du XIXème siècle mais aussi sur la vie littéraire de l’époque.
Dans le plan franc-maçon de déchristianisation de la France, Rouen est un enjeu important. Lorsqu’en 1874, l’écrivain rouennais Gustave Flaubert présente au théâtre du Vaudeville Le Candidat, pièce assassine pour le monde politico-maçonnique, il se met toutes les loges à dos et celles-ci se liguent pour empêcher que cette pièce connaisse le moindre succès. Pourtant Gustave Flaubert était fils de franc-maçon. Mais aujourd’hui encore, selon Olivier Roney, le Grand Orient de France veille à conserver une certaine censure autour de l’œuvre de Flaubert…
