Maintenant, il s’appelle Marie Cau et il est la première personne transsexuelle à devenir maire en France, à porter l’écharpe bleu-blanc-rouge. En fait, il a été élu premier citoyen à Tilloy-lez-Marchiennes, dans le nord-est de la France, le 24 mai dernier.

Le nouveau maire a déclaré:

« Les gens ne m’ont pas élu parce que j’étais ou non transgenre, ils ont élu un programme. »

Marlène Schiappa, ministre française de l’égalité des genres, a déclaré:

« La visibilité trans et la lutte contre la transphobie dépendent également de l’exercice des responsabilités politiques et publiques. Félicitations Marie Cau! »
