Le 27 novembre dernier, un homme identifié comme Robert Lewis Dear, a ouvert le feu devant les installations de l’entreprise multinationale avorteuse Planned Parenthood à Colorado Springs, aux États-Unis.
Après avoir commencé la fusillade à l’extérieur, le suspect est entré dans les installations et a continué à tirer sur les personnes qui travaillaient à l’intérieur.
La police du Colorado Springs s’est rendu rapidement sur les lieux et après cinq heures d’échange de coups de feu, les officiers ont pu neutraliser le suspect et confisquer le matériel qu’il portait avec lui. Selon les témoignages, il s’agissait de quelques bouteilles de gaz qui allaient être utilisées en tant qu’explosifs.
Comme résultat de ce carnage, un officier de police a été tué, ainsi que deux autres civils. Quatre officiers et cinq autres civils ont été blessés. Ironiquement, l’officier tué dans l’incident était un pasteur protestant et était un membre pro-vie.
Les associations pro-vie, catholiques et protestantes ont condamné cette attaque en déclarant : « Nous déplorons et dénoncons toute sorte de violence dans les cliniques d’avortements. Nous avons toujours travaillé et agi dans la paix ».
En outre, elles ont affirmé : « Nous exprimons toute notre peine envers ceux qui ont été touchés par cet incident et nous assurons de nos prières à tous ceux qui se trouvaient dans les installations du Planned Parenthood et aux représentants de l’ordre ».
Jusqu’à présent, la police du Colorado Springs n’a aucune piste sur les raisons qui ont motivé le suspect à initier cette fusillade. Il n’a pas de casier judiciaire, mais juste quelques infractions au code de la route.
