Est en projet dans une ville de 20.000 habitants seulement, Umbertide, sise dans la région de Ombrie, à quelques kilomètres d’Assise, une mosquée qui deviendrait la troisième plus grande mosquée d’Italie après Rome et Turin. Plus de 1000 m2, un minaret pour appeler à la prière, un local culturel, « la population d’Umbertide ne veut pas de cet édifice et une des préoccupations les plus importantes concerne la sécurité. » explique le conseiller régional de la Ligue du Nord, Valerio Mancini.
Ce projet soutenu par le premier magistrat de la ville, le maire de gauche Marco Locchi, provoque donc de fortes répugnances dans les rangs de l’opposition municipale et régionale. Voulue avec l’excuse que cela constitue « le processus naturel d’intégration lié à un centre récréatif et culturel », cette construction ne reçoit pas l’aval de la population : « C’est une claque à notre culture catholique et à notre histoire, caractérisée par une attitude d’accueil et d’ouverture, mais cette fois-ci la coupe est pleine « dénonce l’autre opposant au projet, Marco Vinicio Guasticchi, pourtant du même Parti Démocrate que le maire.
Comme quoi, même parmi les beni-oui-oui de la gauche bien-pensante, l’implantation de l’islam dans nos pays d’anciennes civilisations chrétiennes commence à devenir un problème à combattre.
