Le multiculturalisme dans la composition des équipes de football ne fait pas exception en Allemagne. Mais les résultats croissants du parti Alternative pour l’Allemagne (AfD) permettent à ses dirigeants de s’exprimer sur le sujet.
Dans le magazine Spiegel, Alexander Gauland, vice-président du parti, estime que l’équipe d’Allemagne n’est « depuis longtemps plus allemande ». Le responsable du parti souligne que le football professionnel n’est « plus une question d’identité nationale » mais plutôt, « finalement, une question d’argent ».
« L’équipe nationale allemande ou anglaise n’est plus depuis longtemps allemande ou anglaise, au sens classique du terme », constate Alexander Gauland qui, la semaine passée, avait affirmé que les gens appréciaient Jérome Boateng « en tant que footballeur » mais ne voulaient pas l’avoir « comme voisin ».
Les gens ne sont pas « si multikulti » (multiculturels) que certains le voudraient, dit-il : « Il y a encore un lien très fort au sol, aux gens, à l’histoire et à la tradition. Certes, ils vibrent avec le football, mais ce monde multiculturel est étranger à la plupart. »
Récemment, l’un des joueurs de l’équipe nationale allemande, Mesut Özil, s’était rendu à La Mecque, Alexander Gauland estime que c’est acceptable de la part d’un footballeur. « Mais dans le cas de fonctionnaires, de professeurs, d’hommes politiques ou de personnes décisionnaires, je poserais volontiers la question : est-ce que quelqu’un qui va à La Mecque est vraiment à sa place dans la démocratie allemande ? Est-ce que sa loyauté va à la Loi fondamentale (la Constitution allemande) ou à un islam qui est un islam politique ? »
Dans une interview au journal Die Welt am Sonntag, Frauke Petry, présidente de l’AfD, est revenue sur le sujet, à la demande du journaliste, estimant qu’il est dommage qu’un joueur comme Mesut Özil ne puisse pas chanter l’hymne allemand.
