Hedy Epstein, une militante juive pro-palestinienne régulièrement critiquée par les associations communautaires juives pour ses appels à boycotter Israël, a été choisie par le parlement autrichien pour représenter les survivants de l’Holocauste lors d’un colloque sur les femmes pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
Les invitations envoyées vendredi par le bureau du président du Parlement autrichien annoncent Hedy Epstein, décrite comme une militante de la paix et des droits de l’Homme, parmi les intervenants de ce colloque qui se tiendra le 8 mars.
Hedy Epstein, a signé de nombreuses pétitions du mouvement Boycott, Désinvestissement et Sanctions (BDS) contre Israël. Elle a aussi participé à plusieurs actions pour briser le blocus israélien sur la bande de Gaza. En 2004, à l’université Stanford, elle avait comparé le traitement des Juifs par les nazis au traitement des Palestiniens par les Israéliens.
L’Anti-Defamation League (fondée par le B’naï B’rith) a déjà protesté en présentant les propos d’Hedy Epstein comme relevant de… l’antisémitisme.
