En ce moment elle se font rares, alors pour une fois n’hésitons pas à nous réjouir : le 28 août le docteur Kariger, qui voulait tant de mal à Vincent Lambert, a quitté « son » service de soins palliatifs à l’hôpital de Reims, et l’hôpital lui-même, pour aller diriger une maison de retraite dans le région rémoise où il travaillait déjà.
Il explique, sans complexe, que cette décision était prise depuis longtemps et qu’elle n’a rien à voir avec l’affaire Lambert. Mais pour notre part, il n’est pas déraisonnable de penser que la direction de l’hôpital de Reims n’est pas fâchée de le voir disparaître, car la population rémoise commençait à poser des questions… et à fuir.
Quelle que soit la décision ultérieure de la Cour Européenne des droits de l’homme, devant laquelle une partie de la famille Lambert a déposé le fameux recours contre l’arrêt du Conseil d’Etat, ordonnant la mise à mort de Vincent, la donne va être complètement modifiée. Selon la loi Léonetti c’est le médecin qui prend la décision léthale, après avis de son entourage et de celui du malade. Si le médecin change, la décision du Conseil d’Etat approuvant la décision de Kariger, tombe automatiquement. Et le prochain chef de service ne sera peut-être pas aussi venimeux… Les anges gardiens quand même… ils ont du bon !
