L’économie états-unienne est en cours s’effondrement. De façon surprenante, le Conseil des gouverneurs de la Réserve fédérale américaine a été convoqué ce soir même à une réunion d’urgence. Et sa présidente Janet Yellen est en ce moment même chez Obama.
Quelle en est la raison ? Quelqu’un à la Fed semble avoir appuyé sur le « bouton rouge », alors que la Banque centrale américaine annonçait, il y a encore quelques mois et semaines, que l’économie se portait bien. Or, depuis le 15 mars, la courbe du PIB attestent d’une chute vertigineuse (cf. graphique).
La croissance du PIB de 2,5 % prognostiquée par la FED d’Atlanta il y a huit semaines, qui fut réduite le 11 mars à 2,3 %, ne se révèle-t-elle pas être une chimère ? Depuis un mois, elle a dû réviser sa « prévision du meilleur des mondes » à un taux inquiétant de 0,1 %, ce qui constitue un tournant symptomatique et contredit les statistiques indiquant une prétendue prospérité. Publication qui pourrait pousser de nombreux investisseurs dans la dépression.
Le fantôme de la récession
La vitesse de cette érosion est, à elle seule, effrayante, et devrait faire prendre conscience aux derniers optimistes que plane sur nos têtes le fantôme d’une véritable récession tant elle devient visible pour tout un chacun. Que va faire la FED ? Avec la révision de ses estimations, il n’est quasiment plus possible d’élever le taux d’intérêt comme cela était prévu. Car l’économie américaine n’y survivrait pas. Quant aux marchés financiers, ils savent de toute façon que cinq milliards de dollars ont coulé dans les caisses des fonds de capital-investissement ces derniers temps.
Yellen chez Obama
« L’Europe était jusqu’à présent „l’homme malade“ de l’économie mondialisée, mais avec les prévisions déprimantes de la FED d’Atlanta, la situation semble aujourd’hui se transformer », fait valoir Zerohedge[1].
Allons-nous voir bientôt les spéculateurs se jeter par les fenêtres de Wall Street ?
