Un nouveau projet de loi en Équateur établit que les citoyens pourront choisir son genre et son nom de famille sur leur pièce d’identité. Cette « initiative » vient du Service National de la Gestion de l’identité et des données, et elle sera envoyée à l’Assemblée pour la signature définitive. Parmi les nouveautés du projet de loi, le mot « sexe » deviendra « genre ».
Cette réforme est dédiée aux personnes transgenres et le choix sera volontaire. Le président de la commission, Richard Calderon, a expliqué à la presse locale que « la loi du registre d’état civil date de 1976, elle ne correspond pas à la Constitution qui garantit les droits et la non-discrimination par identité sexuelle. Ce projet reconnaît le genre par autodétermination ».
L’idée du changement a pour objectif faire la différence entre sexe et genre. Le premier est biologique, mais si une personne peut choisir son genre c’est surtout parce qu’elle « exprime comment elle se sent et comment elle veut être considérée par la société ».
Pour l’instant ce changement pourra se faire uniquement à partir de 18 ans. Le mariage et l’adoption pour les couples homosexuels restent quand même interdits par cette initiative.
Pour la présidente activiste LBGT de l’association Alfil, Rashell Erazo, cette réforme « est un pas en avant dans le chemin des droits et de l’égalité en Equateur. Cette « femme », qui était un homme au départ, a déclaré que « ce changement sur les pièces d’identité doit être universel et définitif, et non pas volontaire. Nous avons tous un genre, la vie des gens n’est pas une option ».
L’idéologie du gender avance à toute allure dans ce pays sud-américain. Aujourd’hui, le changement du genre, demain, mariage et adoption homosexuels reconnus par l’état.
