ALIX L’ART DE JACQUES MARTIN
Héros légendaire qui a fait les beaux jours du journal Tintin pendant près de 40 ans, Alix reste un symbole de la bande dessinée franco-belge. Son créateur, Jacques Martin, a participé activement à la vie des Studios Hergé et à la réalisation de nombreux albums de Tintin, tout en creusant un sillon singulier avec Alix, véritable saga historique ancrée dans l’Antiquité romaine.
L’exposition qui lui rend hommage constitue la première grande rétrospective consacrée à l’art de Jacques Martin, et plus précisément aux années 1948-1988, pendant lesquelles l’auteur dessine et écrit seul la série. En huit étapes, à travers plus de 150 planches originales et documents rares, le visiteur découvrira les débuts du dessinateur et son entrée aux Studios Hergé, avant d’aborder la dimension esthétique de son œuvre, et notamment le perspectivisme, qui lui a permis de renouveler la narration graphique en bande dessinée.
La figure d’Alix occupera bien sûr une place centrale dans l’exposition. Ce héros paradoxal, souvent frustré dans ses aspirations à défendre la justice, doit négocier avec un monde antique à la fois violent et raffiné.
Enfin, un espace sera dédié aux débuts de Guy Lefranc, le « cousin » contemporain d’Alix, dont Jacques Martin a dessiné les trois premières aventures en même temps que celles du jeune Gallo-Romain. La scénographie de l’exposition proposera à tous les publics une visite ludique, à la découverte d’un monde à la fois proche et lointain, fascinant et déconcertant.
