Japon – La police de Tokyo a déclaré lundi qu’elle enquêtait sur plusieurs hommes de nationalité japonaise soupçonnés d’avoir planifié d’aller en Syrie pour rejoindre le groupe djihadiste Etat Islamique. La police a donné peu de détails sur ces hommes, qui sont décrits comme des étudiants universitaires âgés chacun d’une vingtaine d’années et qui ne fréquentaient plus assidûment les cours.
Selon la police japonaise, l’un des hommes arrêtés, identifié comme un étudiant de 26 ans à l’université de Hokkaido, a été recruté par l’Etat Islamique via Internet.
La police n’a fourni aucune information supplémentaire. Cependant, l’Asahi Shimbun, l’un des plus grands journaux du Japon, citant une source policière anonyme, affirme qu’au moins l’un de ces hommes a été recruté dans une librairie à Akihabara, un quartier de Tokyo qui est un centre de la culture pour les jeunes.
Selon le journal, la librairie a affiché une annonce proposant un travail en Syrie, et invitant les personnes intéressées à contacter le magasin. Le journal japonais pense que c’est par ce canal qu’au moins un de ces étudiants est entré en contact avec la filière islamiste.
Selon le journal Asahi Shimbun, les policiers enquêtent aussi sur le propriétaire et les employés de la librairie pour établir leurs connexions avec l’Etat islamique.
Au Japon, s’engager dans une armée d’un gouvernement étranger est un crime passible de cinq ans de prison.
En 2013, c’est un journaliste « freelance » japonais qui avait affiché ses proximités avec les djihadistes en Syrie. Shamil Tsuneoka avait diffusé des photos de lui, arme en mains, avec le drapeau djihadiste en décor, ou encore au milieu des combattants islamiques
