Né musulman et éduqué dans l’Islam, l’un de ses frères deviendra imam en Belgique, Djibril Cissé abandonne jeune l’Islam et se fait catholique. Il est revenu rapidement sur cet épisode de sa vie lors de l’émission de Laurent Ruquier samedi dernier dans On n’est pas couché.
Durant cette émisison il a rendu un poignant témoignage à sa maman :
« Déjà, ma mère elle nous a élevé toute seule. On était sept enfants…toute seule ! Moi quand j’ai mon petit de sept mois déjà au bout d’une heure je n’en peux plus alors… Imaginez ma mère avec sept, mais sept -j’avais envie d’utiliser le mot ‘voyous’ mais en ce moment, je ne pense pas- garçons très très turbulents. Elle faisait des ménages à droite à gauche du lundi au lundi sans s’arrêter. Je ne pourrai jamais la remercier assez de tous les sacrifices qu’elle a pu faire. Elle n’a pas eu de vie, sa vie c’était mettre à manger dans la bouche de ses enfants et voilà, aujourd’hui je me dois de lui rendre ».
