Dans la nuit du 14 juillet après minuit, de violents débordements ont eu lieu à Argenteuil dans le Val d’Oise. Des tirs de mortier ont été entendus dans le quartier du Val nord, où les forces de l’ordre ont dû intervenir à l’aide de bombes lacrymogènes. Jusqu’à deux heures du matin, la situation est restée tendue.
La veille aussi, la ville avait été le théâtre de débordements tout aussi violents. Des tirs de mortiers avaient éclaté un peu partout dans les quartiers du centre-ville, du Val nord et sud, de Joliot-Curie et les policiers avaient fait usage de bombes lacrymogènes. Ces derniers ont fait l’objet de tentatives de guet-apens. Une quinzaine de personnes, entre 16 et 22 ans, avaient été interpellées et placées en garde-à-vue pour usage d’armes sur policiers et pour usage et détention d’objets incendiaires. Aucune précision n’a été donnée sur l’aboutissement judiciaire de ces gardes-à-vue.
Ce matin, on pouvait constater que seuls deux journaux: Le Parisien et Le Figaro ont évoqué ces débordements pourtant graves, comme s’il s’agissait d’une banalité. De même, il n’y a eu aucune réaction politique.
