Deux Néerlandais qui voulaient se rendre en Syrie pour y combattre aux côtés des rebelles ont été condamnés mercredi par le Tribunal de Rotterdam. « Ils voulaient se rendre en Syrie pour combattre et le Tribunal a estimé qu’il s’agissait de préparatifs en vue d’assassiner des personnes, notamment », a assuré une porte-parole du Tribunal de Rotterdam, Catelijn van Breevoort.
Identifiés par les médias néerlandais comme étant Mohammed G. et Omar H., 24 et 22 ans, les jeunes gens ont été reconnus coupables de « préparatifs en vue d’un assassinat » et de « préparatifs en vue d’incendies criminels ou de la mise à feu d’explosifs », a indiqué le tribunal de Rotterdam dans un communiqué. L’un des deux avait été arrêté en possession d’explosifs au moment où il se préparait à partir vers la Syrie. Il a été condamné à 12 mois de prison dont quatre avec sursis. L’autre sera pris en charge par un hôpital psychiatrique.
Selon les médias néerlandais, plus de cent jeunes Néerlandais se sont déjà rendus en Syrie pour y combattre aux côtés des extrémistes. Une trentaine seraient depuis revenus au pays, tandis que six seraient morts.
