Le Caire a annoncé ce mardi l’arrestation de deux dirigeants de l’organisation des Frères musulmans à la veille d’une décision sur la condamnation à mort de l’ancien président islamiste Mohamed Morsi, rapportent des sources au sein des services de sécurité, rapporte l’agence Reuters.
Il s’agit exactement de Mahmoud Ghozlan, un des porte-parole de cette confrérie classée comme organisation terroriste et Abdoul Rahman al Barr, considéré comme la plus haute autorité religieuse de cette organisation islamiste. Cette arrestation fait suite à l’annonce, lundi soir, par les autorités, du démantèlement d’une cellule de la confrérie accusée d’avoir recueilli des informations sur les institutions de l’Etat et de les avoir transmises à l’étranger, précise la même source.
Les Frères musulmans ont condamné ces arrestations dans un communiqué diffusé sur internet.
La justice égyptienne a réclamé le mois dernier la peine de mort pour Mohamed Morsi et 106 membres ou proches des Frères musulmans accusés d’être impliqués dans une évasion collective d’une prison du Caire durant le soulèvement de 2011.
Une décision, avec possibilité d’appel, est attendue mardi, après consultation du Grand Mufti, dont l’avis non contraignant est sollicité pour chaque condamnation à la peine capitale.
