En Belgique, parmi les défilés du carnaval, il en est un qui est réputé pour son impertinence : le carnaval d’Alost. Dans cette ville de Flandre, les sujets d’actualité et les personnalités politiques de tous bords, belges comme internationaux, font systématiquement l’objet d’une dérision sans limite et sans tabou. De quoi fréquemment choquer aussi bien les organisations juives que musulmanes.
Cette année, différentes organisations juives ont d’ailleurs annoncé porter plainte en raison de la présence dans le cortège carnavalesque d’un groupe déguisé en juifs orthodoxes. Les organisations juives reprochent notamment les gros nez des personnages en carton pâte de leur char, ainsi que le fait que certains soient assis sur un coffre-fort ou avec de l’argent dans les mains.
Il n’en fallait pas plus pour crier à l’antisémitisme.
Le bourgmestre (l’équivalent du maire) local a aussitôt réagi en défendant son carnaval et en rappelant que toutes les dérisions y sont permises.
En 2009, un autre groupe du carnaval d’Alost avait déjà suscité la colère des organisations juives.
Des pays musulmans s’étaient également offusqués d’un groupe carnavalesque se moquant des terroristes djihadistes.
Par contre, aucune réaction lorsque des groupes se moquent, parfois de façon scandaleuse, des catholiques.
