C’est un média algérien, Algérie patriotique, qui a publié il y a quelques jours un article signalant que les autorités saoudiennes mènent en ce moment une campagne de séduction auprès des médias occidentaux, et notamment français, afin de soigner l’image du royaume wahhabite et d’obtenir que les médias ne fassent pas le lien entre wahhabisme et terrorisme.
En France, le bureau culturel de l’Arabie Saoudite à Paris a été chargé de gagner à sa cause des journalistes de France24 et des journaux Le Monde et Libération. Plusieurs journalistes ont reçu des notes sur les éléments de langage à utiliser lorsqu’ils traitent un sujet relatif à l’Arabie Saoudite ou au wahhabisme. Bien entendu, les journalistes qui acceptent de suivre ces recommandations sont assurés de recevoir une très généreuse récompense financière. En outre, l’Arabie Saoudite paye aussi des journalistes à être des agents d’influence auprès d’autres journalistes.
La même opération de séduction cible également des journalistes de médias belges.
