Afghanistan – Des soldats des forces spéciales de l’armée américaine venus officiellement épauler l’armée afghane dans la province de Nangahar ont abandonné une partie de leur matériel lors de leur fuite après une attaque menée par des djihadistes de l’Etat islamique.
L’Etat Islamique a diffusé des photos d’équipements américains (armes, munitions, grenades, gilets de protection,…) que les djihadistes ont trouvé sur place.
L’information a été confirmée mardi par le Pentagone qui minimise en parlant de troupes américaines présentes autour d’un hôpital de campagne et qui auraient été obligées d’abandonner du matériel en effectuant un « mouvement de troupes » pour échapper à une offensive de l’EI.
Le porte-parole du Pentagone, Adam Stump, a déclaré : « Pour des raisons que l’on comprend aisément, nous n’avons pas mis de vies de soldats en danger pour récupérer ces équipements avant l’opération d’exfiltration de cette zone qui avait déjà été planifiée ».
