Samedi, la Finlande a commencé les contrôles aux frontières en raison des immigrés affluant via la Suède dans la ville frontière de Tornio. Quelques centaines de Finlandais ont manifesté dans cette ville contre l’afflux croissant de demandeurs d’asile, formant un mur humain symbolique.
Les manifestants ont brandi des pancartes proclamant: « Assez. Fermez les frontières! »
« A partir de maintenant, les gens qui traversent la frontière à Tornio seront contrôlés selon une procédure menée par la police », s’est contenté d’annoncer le ministère de l’Intérieur de la Finlande.
Des centaines d’immigrés ont afflué en Finlande via la Suède ces derniers jours et, selon les prévisions gouvernementales, jusqu’à 30.000 demandeurs d’asile sont attendus en Finlande cette année, contre 3651 l’année dernière.
Jaana Vuorio, directeur de l’agence de l’immigration de la Finlande, a déclaré que, depuis le début de 2015, 11 263 personnes ont déjà demandé l’asile dans le pays. Durant la seule journée de jeudi dernier, 521 immigrés – le nombre le plus élevé en un jour – étaient entrés via la Suède.
« Je pense que notre situation économique est devenue un problème moindre que le défi des réfugiés», a déclaré vendredi le Premier ministre finlandais Juha Sipila. « Nous suivons la situation heure par heure. »
La Finlande est l’une des destinations favorites des immigrés irakiens, somaliens et afghans, selon le ministère de l’Intérieur.
