Peut-être n’avez-vous jamais entendu le mot de « Singularité » dans son sens nouveau. Il s’agit du moment où les hommes seront dépassés par le robot. Non pas par la force physique ou sa précision : c’est déjà fait depuis longtemps par exemple dans la construction automatisée des voitures. Il s’agit pour le robot d’être capable par son intelligence de simuler l’interaction existant entre les hommes. En pratique la communication, la mémoire, mais surtout la possibilité d’augmenter ses connaissances et d’être une sorte de Wikipédia ambulant capable de répondre et de chercher des réponses sur Internet.

Un projet allemand veut aller plus loin en dotant les robots d’un langage qui leur est propre et leur permettrait d’accélérer l’apprentissage ; ce qui les rendrait plus autonomes. Parallèlement l’Université Cornell à Manhattan a fait un communiqué le 24 août dernier présentant un Robot cerveau (Robo Brain) apte à se brancher sur le Net. Il est capable de télécharger et de traiter un milliard de concepts ou d’idées, 120.000 vidéos venant de YouTube, et 100 millions de documents et de divers manuels d’utilisation. D’autres robots moins sophistiqués pourront se mettre en contact avec lui si besoin s’en faisait sentir. Robo Brain a ainsi atteint la Singularité : il est devenu plus intelligent que l’homme lui-même.

À ce stade on sent bien que toute la recherche biologique est remise en question : quel sera l’avenir de l’homme ? Aucun, sauf si ce dernier se décide à se mélanger lui-même à la machine. Telle était la perspective que j’avais présentée dans mon ouvrage L’Ultime Transgression. Mais ce programme inquiétant à moyen terme est celui des transhumanistes. Auparavant il nous faudra passer par une phase terrible sur le plan économique et sur laquelle nous reviendrons ultérieurement : celle de voir remplacer toute une série de professions par des robots avec à terme d’effroyables troubles sociaux. Nous commençons à voir le remplacement de certains emplois du secteur manufacturier et des services et plus récemment la production de masse de robots de sécurité aux États-Unis.

Certains pensent qu’en 2045, les humains seront entièrement « externalisés ». L’externalisation se définit comme le transfert de tout ou partie d’une organisation en dehors d’elle vers d’autres partenaires. Autrement dit l’homme sera devenu inutile et remplacé par des robots.
