CRIF et Grand Orient de France semblent des passages obligés pour la plupart des candidats à la présidence de la république. En date du 16 février, un communiqué du CRIF signale que le candidat socialiste Benoit Hamon a déjeuné avec Francis Kalifat le président du CRIF.
« C’est au cours d’un déjeuner que le Président du Crif et le Candidat du Parti socialiste ont pu avoir un échange franc et cordial. Véritable tour d’horizon des sujets qui figurent dans la liste des préoccupations du Crif. La discussion a notamment porté sur la sécurité des Juifs en France, la laïcité, la dé-légitimation d’Israël, le mouvement BDS, la politique internationale de la France, le Moyen-Orient, la politique israélienne, la gouvernance palestinienne et le processus de paix, le statut de Jérusalem, etc. Les deux hommes ont pu également parler de leurs expériences communes à Trappes ou Francis Kalifat a résidé dans sa jeunesse, et dont le Candidat est le Député. Ce fut pour cette rencontre entre les deux l’occasion d’un échange direct au cours duquel la Président du Crif a pu expliquer au candidat toute la sensibilité des Français juifs sur l’ensemble de ces sujets. »
