Hani Ramadan, frère de Tariq Ramadan et directeur du Centre islamique de Genève avait été licencié en 2002 de son poste d’enseignant dans la ville suisse pour avoir notamment défendu la lapidation. Son licenciement avait été suivi d’une indemnité de départ de 255.000 francs suisses, correspondant à 24 mois du dernier salaire qu’il touchait lorsqu’il était encore employé au Département de l’instruction publique.
Mais plusieurs journaux suisses ont révélé qu’Hani Ramadan serait intervenu ces jours-ci dans une classe pour évoquer l’islamophobie. L’intervention s’est faite au Centre de la transition professionnelle de la Coulouvrenière à Genève, devant des élèves de 16 à 17 ans.
Le porte-parole du Département de l’instruction publique (DIP) a déclaré au journal Temps « que l’enseignante a cru bien faire en invitant Hani Ramadan à s’exprimer sur l’islamophobie en classe« . Et d’ajouter que « l’enseignante a été convoquée par sa direction« . Le journal genevois cite une mère d’élève : « Mon enfant a trouvé l’intervenant fascinant et il a souhaité avoir davantage de professeurs aussi intéressants que lui. Comme nos jeunes sont en recherche d’identité, c’est d’autant plus préoccupant« .
