Uccle est une commune huppée de la région bruxelloise. Jusqu’ici, tous les services de l’administration communale utilisaient le blason historique de la commune représentant Saint Pierre.

En effet, Uccle n’était qu’une bourgade inconnue jusqu’en l’an 803 où son église Saint Pierre fut consacrée par le pape Léon III en présence de Charlemagne. C’est à la suite de cet événement que le comté d’Uccle fit figure de capitale juridique de Bruxelles à l’époque carolingienne.

Or, Armand De Decker, bourgmestre libéral d’Uccle, a estimé qu’il fallait moderniser les symboles de sa commune. Exit Saint Pierre… Pour la bagatelle de 15.000 euros, l’agence Mandragore a fourni un logo épuré. L’agence précise qu’il faut y voir un signe d’ouverture « vers le futur« . Faut-il attendre les effets hallucinogènes de la Mandragore pour s’en réjouir ?

Toujours est-il que c’est une étape supplémentaire dans la déchristianisation de la capitale de la Belgique et de l’Europe.
