C’est dans ce contexte que le bourgmestre socialiste d’Anderlecht, Eric Tomas, a décidé de transformer l’église Saint-François Xavier, dans le quartier Cureghem, en centre sportif.
L’explication fournie dans le journal La Capitale est on ne peut plus claire : « la population a radicalement changé ».
L’archevêché est gravement complice de cette situation, ayant lui-même mis dès 2013 cette église sur la liste des bâtiments dont le diocèse veut se débarrasser puis ayant fermé ses portes en 2015.
