Le Parlement croate vote aujourd’hui sur l’organisation d’un référendum par lequel des groupes soutenus par l’Église catholique souhaitent faire amender la Constitution dans le but d’interdire le « mariage » homosexuel. Le vote au Parlement intervient à la demande d’un collectif conservateur «Au nom de la famille» qui a rassemblé une pétition de quelques 700 000 signatures (ndlr : comment ne pas voir le paradoxe avec la France où 700.000 pétitions avaient été jetées à la poubelle ?) auprès des citoyens favorables à ce que le mariage soit défini par la Constitution comme «une union entre un homme et une femme». Si une majorité d’élus vote en faveur de l’organisation du référendum, le scrutin devrait avoir lieu le 1er décembre. Il s’agit pour les mouvements conservateurs de bloquer le mariage homosexuel après l’annonce par le gouvernement d’une nouvelle législation en la matière visant à autoriser le partenariat enregistré. En 2003, la Croatie a accordé aux duos de même sexe les mêmes droits qu’aux hétérosexuels vivant en union libre, dont une sorte de reconnaissance de la communauté de biens. Environ 54 % des Croates soutiennent l’organisation d’un tel référendum, contre 30 % qui s’y opposent, selon un récent sondage.
Ce pays va-t-il tenir à contre-courant alors qu’il vient d’adhérer à l’UE en 2013 ?
Mise à jour – On vient d’apprendre que les députés croates ont approuvé la tenue du référendum. 104 des 151 députés du Parlement ont voté en faveur du référendum. 13 ont voté contre. Cinq députés se sont abstenus. Il sont plus courageux que nos politiques !
