Le Sultanat de Brunei châtiera de cinq ans d’emprisonnement ceux qui «oseront» célébrer publiquement la Nativité, souhaiter un Joyeux Noël ou même simplement porter un bonnet de Père Noël.
Au Sultanat de Brunei, où au moins 65% des 420.000 habitants de ce pays sont musulmans, les non-musulmans ne peuvent fêter Noël que dans leurs communautés et en avertissant les autorités.
Le gouvernement du Brunei justifie sa décision au nom de la protection de l’islam ! « Ces mesures visent à contrôler les célébrations excessives et publiques, qui peuvent affecter la croyance (aqida) de la communauté musulmane », dit le communiqué du ministère des Affaires religieuses.
Il y a quelques semaines, un groupe d’imams avait affirmé que toute célébration non liée à l’Islam « peut conduire à la « tasyabbuh » à savoir à l’imitation, chose qui à leur avis est dommageable pour la foi des musulmans.
Ainsi donc, un pays musulman ne pourrait tolérer l’expression publique d’une autre foi que l’islam mais un pays chrétien devrait lui mettre sur même pied d’égalité toutes les convictions. Cherchez l’erreur.
A cette heure, nous n’avons pas connaissance de la moindre protestation officielle de la France, de l’Union Européenne ou des Etats-Unis, tous habitués pourtant à donner des leçons aux autres pays.
Il faut dire que le Sultanat de Brunei est un pays très riche.
