Pakistan – Des violences ont éclaté dans le quartier Sanda dans la région de Lahore, dimanche.
Selon les témoignages des chrétiens du quartier, un homme chrétien nommé Humayun Masih, handicapé mental, brûlait des journaux lorsque des musulmans l’ont agressé, affirmant qu’il brûlait des versets du Coran. Il a été emmené au poste de police local pour être accusé de blasphème en vertu de l’article 295-B du code pénal du Pakistan, qui rend illégal le fait de profaner le Coran.
Les médias locaux présentent des descriptions contradictoires des événements, mais plusieurs sources ont indiqué qu’une foule conduite par des chefs religieux musulmans a manifesté dans le quartier de Sanda, bloquant les routes et exigeant que Masih soit brûlé vif. La manifestation a dégénéré en une succession d’attaques violentes menées contre les chrétiens. Des églises ont été la cible de jets de pierres et des maisons de chrétiens ont été incendiées.
