Jusqu’ici, nous ne connaissions pas le maire de Sheffield, en Angleterre. Celui-ci vient de faire parler de lui parce qu’il a « interdit » au président américain Donald Trump de visiter sa ville.
Cela nous vaut cette photographie très significative de Magid Magid, aussi appelé « Magid Mah », qui a fait cette annonce alors qu’il présidait l’assemblée du conseil municipal de la ville du comté du Yorkshire du Sud.
Ce maire est un réfugié somalien élu du Parti vert. Il a déclaré dans un tweet que Donald Trump était un « vaurien » et qu’il n’avait pas le droit de se rendre « dans la grande ville de Sheffield ». Le maire a encore tweeté : « Je déclare […] que le 13 juillet sera la journée de la solidarité mexicaine ! ».
Le conseil a rappelé que Magid Magid n’avait pas le pouvoir d’interdire quiconque d’entrer dans la ville.
