Plusieurs organisations juives ont déposé un million de signatures au Capitole contre la nomination de Stephen Bannon au poste de Haut-Conseiller du président élu Donald Trump.
A l’initiative de J Street, Jewish Voice for Peace, Bend the Arc Jewish Action, IfNotNow et d’autres organisations du même genre, cette pétition demande aux membres du Congrès de s’opposer à la nomination de Bannon. Cette pétition est accompagnée d’une déclaration disant qu’il « n’y a pas de place pour un suprémaciste blanc, antisémite, climato-sceptique et misogyne à la Maison Blanche ».
Le Rabbin Jason Kimelman-Block, directeur de l’organisation ‘Bend the Arc Jewish Action’, a déclaré que Trump avait « fomenté une agression contre nos valeurs les plus fondamentales en tant que Juifs et en tant qu’Américains ». “Trump a invité les promoteurs de visions et de rhétoriques nationalistes et antisémites, comme Steve Bannon, dans son cercle interne, un comportement inacceptable de la part de quelqu’un qui veut unir et diriger notre pays”, a-t-il dit.
Des organisations juives tentent également de mobiliser les musulmans à leurs côtés, comme nous l’avions déjà évoqué.
