La légalisation du cannabis fait toujours débat. Tant les Verts qu’une partie des socialistes sont partisan d’en légaliser l’usage. Pourtant de nombreuses études montraient que fumer de cette plante était toxique et dangereux. Même Jack Lang avait fait marche arrière sur le sujet. Mais la controverse reste récurrente face à ceux qui veulent continuer à détruire les bases de la société. Une étude diligentée à la Faculté de Médecine de Toulouse (Pr Jouanjus) établit que la consommation régulière de cannabis entraîne des risques pour le cœur.
Entre 2006 et 2010 le professeur a étudié et suivi les dossiers d’un certain nombre de personnes addicts au cannabis, soit 1979 cas. Il a constaté que le nombre de cas d’accident vasculaire (embolies, infarctus, AVC) avait triplé dans cette population durant cette période. Mais cette estimation rapportée au 1 million 200.000 consommateurs serait bien en dessous de la réalité. La pointe de dangerosité se situe chez les hommes à 35 ans.
Le Professeur Jouanjus tend à mettre en garde les jeunes générations contre les risques liés à la consommation du cannabis… mais aussi les plus âgées. Dans un éditorial publié dans l’American Heart Association Journal, les docteurs américains Sherief Rezkalla et Robert A. Kloner ont apporté leur soutien à l’équipe du professeur Jouanjus.
