La peur revient à New-York : une bombe a explosé à Manhattan dans le métro à côté de Time Square vers 7.30 ce matin. Trois lignes de métros ont été évacuées. Deux individus ont été arrêtés dont un Bengalis de 27 ans.
Quatre personnes ont été blessés mais aucune n’est dans un état grave. Bill De Blasio, le maire, a admis le premier ce que tout le monde pense : c’est un « attentat islamique ». La police a arrêté un suspect, Akayed Ullah, 27 ans originaire du Bangladesh qui depuis 7 ans vit aux États-Unis, et réside pour le moment à Brooklyn. Il a été transféré à l’hôpital Bellevue après que l’engin artisanal qu’il avait sur lui a explosé dans un passage piéton, le blessant. Bill Bratton, l’ex-chef de la police new-yorkaise, interviewé par la Msnbc, a expliqué que le jeune aurait provoqué l’explosion au nom de l’État islamique.
Une photographie postée par le New-York Post montre le jeune à terre, menotté, avec des blessures et des brûlures sur le corps. Interrogé brièvement par les enquêteurs, le suspect a déclaré avoir réalisé la bombe dans les locaux de l’agence d’électricité où il travaille. Le gouverneur de New-York Andrew Cuomo a rappelé que cette ville des États-Unis est « un objectif international ».
