Les autorités du Nigéria semblent bien incapables d’empêcher la progression des djihadistes de Boko Haram. Face à une armée nigériane en totale déroute – et dont une partie des officiers se laisse vraisemblablement acheter par Boko Haram – les islamistes enchaînent ces jours-ci les conquêtes de différentes localités. Banki, Bama,Maiduguri,… C’est toute la région de Borno qui passe sous contrôle de la secte islamiste.
Selon un rapport de l’organisation britannique Chatham House, Boko Haram peut désormais compter sur une armée de 8.000 hommes dotés d’armements lourds et même de blindés. Ils se répartissent en six camps principaux auxquels s’ajoutent des dizaines de petits campements.
Comme pour l’Etat Islamique en Irak et en Syrie, on observe un développement de Boko Haram, tant en terme de troupes que de moyens financiers et de matériel militaire.
La rumeur se fait de plus en plus forte pour laisser entendre que la Banque centrale du Nigéria blanchit l’argent de la secte islamiste. D’autre part, beaucoup s’interrogent sur l’étrange apathie des autorités nigérianes.
Pendant ce temps, dans les zones conquises, la barbarie a libre cours : chrétiens torturés, enfants décapités,… Et comme il n’y a là-bas ni pétrole ni gaz, la communauté internationale semble complètement s’en désintéresser.
