Abubakar Shekau, chef du groupe islamiste Boko Haram, a diffusé une vidéo dans laquelle il menace le président camerounais Paul Biya et annonce qu’il mènera dans son pays des attaques aussi violentes qu’au Nigeria.
Les attaques du groupe djihadiste se sont multipliées, depuis début 2014, dans la région de l’Extrême-Nord du Cameroun.
«Paul Biya, si tu ne mets pas fin à ton plan maléfique, tu vas avoir droit au même sort que le Nigeria (…) Tes soldats ne peuvent rien contre nous», proclame Abubakar Shekau, entouré d’hommes armés cagoulés brandissant le drapeau noir des djihadistes.
La vidéo dure environ 17 minutes. Le leader islamiste y parle tour à tour en arabe, et dans plusieurs langues locales: haoussa, kanouri et fulfulde.
Le président camerounais Biya avait ordonné à son armée d’engager des avions de chasse pour protéger une base militaire camerounaise attaquée par les islamistes le 28 décembre.
Shekau appelle le président Biya à «se repentir».
«Sinon, tu vas voir ce qui va se passer, par Allah», menace-t-il en brandissant son index. «Tes soldats ne valent rien. Même les soldats nigérians n’ont rien pu contre nous.»
