C’est le 11 septembre 1917, il y a cent ans, que disparaissait le Capitaine Guynemer, mort au champ d’honneur. En cette année 2017 décrétée « Année des As de la Première Guerre mondiale » par le général d’armée aérienne André Lanata, chef d’état-major de l’Armée de l’Air, celle-ci s’est associée aux éditions Idées+ pour présenter une très belle bande dessinée rendant hommage à ce héros légendaire aux 53 victoires homologuées, tombé en plein ciel de gloire, après trois ans de lutte ardente. Animé de la foi la plus ardente dans la victoire, il légua aux soldats français un souvenir impérissable qui exaltera l’esprit de sacrifice et provoquera les plus nobles émulations.
