Le président syrien Bachar el-Assad s’est rendu dans la ville chrétienne de Maaloula pour Pâques, ville qui a subi des saccages venant de djihadistes et compte des martyrs. La ville a été libérée par l’armée syrienne. La chaîne syrienne a donné des explications sur cette visite:« Le jour de la résurrection du Christ, et du coeur de Maaloula, le président Assad souhaite de joyeuses Pâques à tous les Syriens, et le rétablissement de la paix et de la sécurité à l’ensemble de la Syrie.Le président Assad s’est rendu au monastère de Mar Sarkis (Saint Serge et Bacchus) et a inspecté les destructions occasionnées par les terroristes. » On a vu des images du président syrien au côté d’un dignitaire chrétien tenant des fresques endommagées de la Vierge et de Jésus. On a pu constater qu’il a reçu un accueil favorable de la part de la population.
